Anarchist from Colony

This historical drama follows the life of Park Yeol, a Korean anarchist active in Japan during the 1920s. After arriving in Tokyo as a student, he became a political activist and leader of an anti-Japanese organization. The story focuses on his efforts to oppose the government's massacre of Koreans following the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake, as well as his relationship with Japanese comrade Fumiko Kaneko. The plot centers on the conflict between Park Yeol and the Japanese Empire, including a trial where he is accused of treason and plotting to kill the crown prince.

Directed by Lee Joon-ik, this 2017 production is the sixth film in a chronological sequence of his work, following The Throne and preceding The Book of Fish. The film features Lee Je-hoon in the lead role alongside Choi Hee-seo. Produced by Plus M Entertainment with a screenplay by Hwang Sung-goo, the movie earned 16 million USD at the worldwide box office.
