Overboard

Overboard is a comedy in which Leonardo, a wealthy and arrogant yacht owner, treats the people who work for him with contempt. After he falls from his boat and wakes up in hospital with amnesia, Kate, a single mother of three who used to clean for him before he fired her, sees a chance to settle the score. She claims that he is her husband and the father of her children, and brings him home to live the life of a working parent. The film is a remake of the 1987 comedy of the same name, moving the story to a Mexican-American setting.

Rob Greenberg directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Leslie Dixon and Bob Fisher. The film came after his earlier directing work and paired Anna Faris as Kate with Eugenio Derbez as Leonardo, who also produced. Eva Longoria, John Hannah, Swoosie Kurtz and Mel Rodriguez appear in supporting roles.

Released in April 2018, the film cost about 12 million dollars and took roughly 91 million worldwide, a strong return on its budget. On IMDb it holds 6 out of 10 from around 45,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.7 out of 10 from a much smaller base of about 1,500 votes. A critics' rating of 4.3 out of 10 from 87 reviews shows reviewers were considerably less enthusiastic than audiences.
