Psych: The Movie

Psych: The Movie continues the story of Shawn Spencer, a detective who pretends to have psychic abilities, and his best friend Burton Guster. Set three years after the television series ended, the friends reunite in San Francisco, where they have opened a new detective agency. Their reunion is interrupted when a mysterious attacker targets one of their own, drawing the whole group back together during the holidays and sending them after the culprit. Juliet, Lassiter, Henry and Chief Vick all return, and the case brings Shawn into contact with a villains known as the Thin White Duke. The film mixes comedy with crime and mystery as the team pursues both the guilty parties and its next meal.

Steve Franks directs and co-wrote the screenplay with James Roday Rodriguez, who leads the cast as Shawn alongside Dulé Hill as Gus. Maggie Lawson, Corbin Bernsen and Kirsten Nelson reprise their series roles, with Zachary Levi playing the antagonist. The film runs 88 minutes and was produced by UCP, Thruline Entertainment and Pacific Mountain Productions. It is the first of the two Psych films Franks directed, ahead of Psych 2: Lassie Come Home in 2020.

On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 7.3 from around 14,000 votes, while on TMDB it has a 7.2 from roughly 262 votes. A critics' score of 7.7 from 14 reviews places it somewhat above both audience ratings. The vote counts indicate a wide audience response on IMDb and a much smaller one on TMDB.
