A Rainy Day in New York

Gatsby Welles, a Manhattan native from a wealthy family, plans a romantic weekend in New York with his girlfriend Ashleigh, a student from a small Arizona town. She is due to interview the film director Roland Pollard for her college newspaper, and Gatsby intends to show her the city he loves in the time that remains. The interview leads to an invitation to a screening, and Ashleigh is drawn into the company of Pollard, his screenwriter Ted Davidoff and the actor Francisco Vega, leaving Gatsby to wander the rainy streets alone, where he encounters Chan Tyrell, the younger sister of his ex-girlfriend, and has a conversation with his mother that shifts his view.

Woody Allen wrote and directed the film, the forty-sixth of the forty-eight features he has directed in chronological order, following Wonder Wheel and preceding Rifkin's Festival. Letty Aronson and Erika Aronson produced it for Gravier Productions and Perdido Productions. Timothée Chalamet plays Gatsby, Elle Fanning plays Ashleigh, and Selena Gomez plays Chan, with Jude Law, Diego Luna and Liev Schreiber among the supporting cast. The production had a budget of 25 million US dollars and took about 24 million worldwide.

On IMDb the film holds 6.4 out of 10 from roughly 58,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.5 out of 10 from about 2,400 votes. A critics' rating of 5.4 out of 10 from 113 reviews places it below both audience scores.
