Ghostland

After inheriting a house from her late aunt, Pauline moves in with her two teenage daughters, Beth and Vera. On their first night there, violent intruders break in, and Pauline fights to keep her children alive. The ordeal shapes the sisters in opposite ways. Beth becomes a successful writer of horror fiction, while Vera, who never left the house, slides into destructive paranoia. Sixteen years after that night, Beth returns to the house where her mother and sister still live, and a series of strange events begins.

Ghostland is a Canadian-French horror, mystery and thriller directed and written by Pascal Laugier, his fourth feature after House of Voices, Martyrs and The Tall Man. Crystal Reed plays the adult Beth, with Mylène Farmer as Pauline and Anastasia Phillips as Vera; Emilia Jones and Taylor Hickson play the younger sisters, and Rob Archer appears as the Fat Man. The film runs 91 minutes.

On IMDb it holds 6.4 out of 10 from over 38,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.4 from roughly 2,750 votes, so the more casual audience there is warmer toward it than the larger IMDb crowd. A critics' rating of 6 out of 10 from 32 reviews places it close to the IMDb figure, below the TMDB score and short of strong acclaim, though the vote counts indicate a wide viewership.
