Short description
A filmmaker discovers a box of video tapes depicting two students' disturbing film project featuring a local horror legend, The Peeping Tom. As he sets out to prove this story is real and release it as a work of his own, he loses himself and the film crew following him into his project.
What's left behind the scenes
- The footage for the student films was shot on film and passed through special filters to create a "found footage effect."
- The film's advertising campaign was based on an urban legend about a character nicknamed the "Blink Man." Specifically, it concerned a tunnel near Ellicott City, Maryland. Director and screenwriter Eric Christopher Meyers contacted the author of a collection of urban legends to inform them that he had used one of the stories. He feared the author would be angry, but everything turned out fine.
- Initially, three hours of screen time were filmed. The final conversation took place against a backdrop of footage from scenes that were shot but not used in the movie.
