Dr. Martin Harris, an American biologist, arrives in Berlin for a conference with his wife, Elizabeth. A car accident on the way from the airport sends him into a coma, and when he wakes several days later, his documents are gone and memory gaps remain. Returning to the hotel, he finds Elizabeth at the side of another man who has taken his name and his place in her life. No one accepts that he is who he says he is, the authorities dismiss him, and unidentified pursuers force him to go on the run. With help from the taxi driver involved in the crash and a former East German intelligence officer, Harris tries to work out what has been done to his life.

The film is a German-British-American-French co-production, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra as his fourth feature, following Orphan and preceding Non-Stop. Liam Neeson leads as Harris, with Diane Kruger, January Jones, Aidan Quinn, Bruno Ganz and Frank Langella in the main cast. Stephen Cornwell and Oliver Butcher wrote the screenplay, and Joel Silver, Leonard Goldberg and Andrew Rona produced.

Released in February 2011 and running just under two hours, the thriller was made for about 30 million dollars and took roughly 131 million worldwide, a strong return on its budget. Audiences rate it at 6.8 out of 10 on IMDb and 6.7 on TMDB, while the critics' score of 5.8 from 200 reviews is lower, so the film has found more favour with viewers than with reviewers.
