Day of the Dead: Bloodline is a zombie action horror film set after a viral outbreak has destroyed most of humanity. A group of soldiers and survivors lives in an underground military bunker, where a young doctor named Zoe Parker searches for a cure. Because her research requires living test subjects, the undead outside the base are captured and used for experiments. When Zoe joins a mission to collect medical supplies, the group runs into trouble, and one of the zombies follows them back inside. Zoe recognizes him as Max, someone she knew before the outbreak, and his unusual condition may hold the key to a treatment.
The film is a remake of George A. Romero's 1985 Day of the Dead, reworked into a more conventional zombie story. It was directed by Hèctor Hernández Vicens, following his 2015 debut The Corpse of Anna Fritz. The screenplay is by Mark Tonderai and Lars Jacobson, and the cast includes Sophie Skelton as Zoe, Johnathon Schaech as Max, Cristina Serafini, Teodora Duhovnikova, Jeff Gum and Lillian Blankenship.
Made for 8 million dollars in Bulgaria and the United States, the film received a 3/10 from film critics based on 9 reviews. On IMDb it holds a 3.5/10 from around 13,000 votes, and on TMDB a 4.7/10 from 673 votes, placing audience reactions somewhat above the critical consensus but still low overall.
