What Men Want

Ali Davis is a sports agent whose male colleagues consistently shut her out of the deals and decisions that shape their firm. Passed over for the promotion she expected, she looks for another way to get ahead and soon finds she can hear the thoughts of the men around her. She sets out to use that advantage to land the next basketball star as a client, though leaning on what she hears complicates her relationships with her closest friends and with a new man in her life.

The film is a comedy directed by Adam Shankman, the ninth of the eleven features he has directed, arriving between Rock of Ages and Disenchanted. Taraji P. Henson plays Ali, with Aldis Hodge, Josh Brener, Tracy Morgan, Shane Paul McGhie and Erykah Badu among the cast. Tina Gordon Chism wrote the screenplay with Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck, and Will Packer and James Lopez produced for Paramount and Will Packer Productions. Made for about 20 million dollars, it took in roughly 72 million worldwide, a solid return. On IMDb it holds 5.4 from around 35,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.2 from over 1,600.
