Land of Hope

Anni is a woman from a wealthy background who falls in love with Veikko, a veteran injured during the war. Choosing to leave her privileged life behind, she joins him in the remote forests of northern Karelia to establish a farm. While they begin their new life with optimism, unexpected hardships eventually challenge Anni's dreams and her relationship with Veikko.

This historical drama and romance was directed by Markku Pölönen, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Antti Heikkinen. It was the first of two films directed by Pölönen listed in his career history, preceding his 2026 work.
