Rachel is a successful Manhattan attorney approaching her thirtieth birthday, and her closest friend is Darcy, who is engaged to marry Dex. Rachel has carried a long-standing attraction to Dex since their law school days, and after her birthday celebration she and Dex sleep together. The encounter leaves Rachel torn between loyalty to Darcy, whom she is expected to serve as a bridesmaid within weeks, and her feelings for Dex. Rachel's friend Ethan becomes the person she confides in as the situation develops.

Luke Greenfield directed the film, working from a screenplay by Jennie Snyder Urman. It sits between The Girl Next Door and Let's Be Cops in Greenfield's directing career, following The Animal and The Girl Next Door. Ginnifer Goodwin plays Rachel, Kate Hudson plays Darcy, Colin Egglesfield plays Dex, and John Krasinski plays Ethan, with Steve Howey and Ashley Williams also appearing.
