Milada

This historical drama follows the life of Milada Horáková, a democratic politician in Czechoslovakia. The story traces her experiences from before the Second World War through 1950, depicting her commitment to her moral principles and her fight for human rights. After facing imprisonment by the Nazis during the war, she continued her opposition to the subsequent communist regime following the 1948 coup. Despite having the chance to leave her country, she remained and was eventually arrested and convicted of treason in a radio-broadcast show trial based on fabricated charges. The film portrays her struggle for truth and freedom, ending with her execution despite international pleas for clemency from figures such as Winston Churchill and Albert Einstein.
