The World Is Yours

François is a small-time Paris drug dealer with an unusual dream: to go straight and build a legitimate business of his own. That plan falls apart when he discovers his mother Danny has spent the money he had set aside. Poutine, the unpredictable local crime boss, offers him a way to recover his losses through a job in Spain, and François reluctantly agrees, hoping it will be his final venture into crime. His friends and family become entangled in the scheme, among them Lamya, a woman he has long cared for, Henri, a former stepfather recently released from prison, and his mother, who leads a crew of women pickpockets. Their involvement sends the plan off course.

The film is a crime comedy directed by Romain Gavras, who wrote the screenplay with Karim Boukercha and Noé Debré. It was Gavras's first narrative feature, followed by Athena and later Sacrifice. Karim Leklou plays François, with Isabelle Adjani as Danny, Vincent Cassel as Henri, Oulaya Amamra as Lamya, François Damiens as René and Philippe Katerine as Vincent the Lawyer, among a credited cast of 27.
