L Storm

L Storm is a Hong Kong action crime thriller about two investigators whose separate cases collide. William Luk, an investigator with the Independent Commission Against Corruption, and Lau Po-keung, a chief inspector in the financial intelligence unit, are each pursuing a corruption and money laundering case, but both have run out of leads. A complaint against Luk accusing him of taking a large bribe brings a second threat: he is suspended, and the allegation comes from Eva Ng, a model who takes her report to the commission's internal investigation unit. Lau begins to suspect that the bank manager Thomson Yau is helping the gangster Wong Hoi-wo move money, and the pieces point toward a larger corruption network.

The film is directed by David Lam and is the fourth entry in a series of crime films he has made, following Z Storm and S Storm and preceding P Storm and G Storm. Louis Koo leads the cast as William Luk, with Julian Cheung as Lau Po-keung, Kevin Cheng as Ching Tak-ming, Stephy Tang Lai-Yan as Eva Ng, Patrick Tam as Wong Hoi-wo and Michael Tse Tin-Wah as Tik Wai-kit. It runs 97 minutes, and on TMDB it holds a rating of 6.8 out of 10 from 45 votes, indicating a modest audience response.
