Nekrotronic

Howard North is a sewage worker who learns he belongs to a secret order of necromancers, modern-day hunters who use magic and plasma weapons to destroy demons. The demons have found a way to possess people through smartphones, spreading through a popular app, and Howard discovers he carries inherited powers that may make him the one able to stop them. The necromancers are led by Luther, while the demons answer to Finnegan, a figure who oversees their invasion of the connected world. The film blends comedy, horror and science fiction and was made in Australia.

Kiah Roache-Turner directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Tristan Roache-Turner; Andrew Mason, Troy Lum and Tristan Roache-Turner produced it. It was Roache-Turner's second feature, following Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead in 2014, and it precedes Wyrmwood: Apocalypse, Sting and Beast of War. Ben O'Toole plays Howard, with Monica Bellucci as Finnegan, David Wenham as Luther, Tess Haubrich as Torquel, Caroline Ford as Molly and Bob Savea as Rangi.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 5.6 out of 10 from roughly 4,300 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 5.9 out of 10 from about 174 votes. A critics' rating of 5.3 out of 10 from 22 reviews places it close to the audience scores, indicating a similar overall response from both groups.
