Prom

Prom is a 2011 Disney comedy-drama about a group of high school seniors preparing for their graduation dance. Nova Prescott has thrown herself into organizing the event, but a fire destroys the decorations she and her committee spent months assembling. The principal forces Jesse Richter, a rebellious student with no interest in the dance, to help her rebuild everything, and the two clash as the deadline approaches. Around them, classmates navigate crushes, long-term relationships and secrets, so that the night means something different to each of them.

Joe Nussbaum directed the film from a screenplay by Katie Wech. It was his fourth feature, arriving between Sydney White and Upside-Down Magic, and it followed a run of teen-oriented comedies. Aimee Teegarden and Thomas McDonell lead a young ensemble that also includes Nolan Sotillo, Cameron Monaghan, Danielle Campbell and DeVaughn Nixon, with 25 credited cast members in all. Walt Disney Pictures produced the film with Rickshaw Productions.

Prom was released on April 29, 2011 and runs 104 minutes. It cost about 8 million dollars and took roughly 10 million worldwide, a modest return for a wide-release studio film. On IMDb it holds 5.4 out of 10 from about 16,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.1 from roughly 477 votes. A critics' rating of 5.1 from 90 reviews places it close to the audience scores, suggesting broad agreement about what the film is.
