Mirage

Vera Roy has just moved into a new house with her husband and young daughter when a violent storm disrupts the normal flow of time. Through an old television set, she is able to communicate with a boy who lived in the same house roughly twenty-five years earlier, and she intervenes to prevent his death. Saving him changes the course of events, and Vera finds herself in a present where her daughter was never born and her husband does not recognise her. She sets out to recover the life she remembers.

Oriol Paulo directed and co-wrote the film with Lara Sendim, following The Body and The Invisible Guest and preceding God's Crooked Lines in his filmography. Adriana Ugarte plays Vera, with Chino Darín, Javier Gutiérrez, Álvaro Morte, Nora Navas and Miquel Fernández among a credited cast of thirty. The Spanish production combines drama, fantasy, mystery and thriller elements across its 129-minute running time.

Released in late 2018, the film took about 17 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 7.4 out of 10 from around 71,000 votes, and on TMDB it has 7.5 out of 10 from a much smaller pool of over two thousand. Those audience scores sit noticeably higher than the critics' rating of 5.7 out of 10 from seven reviews.
