Fantasy Island

A group of contest winners travel to a remote tropical resort, where the mysterious Mr. Roarke promises to make their deepest wishes come true. Each guest has something different in mind, from reliving a past mistake to seeking adventure or revenge. What begins as the fulfilment of their fantasies soon turns against them, and the island becomes a trap they must escape. The film is a horror reimagining of the 1970s television series about a magical island resort that grants its visitors' desires.

Jeff Wadlow directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Christopher Roach and Jillian Jacobs. It is the sixth of the nine features Wadlow has directed to date, arriving between Truth or Dare and The Curse of Bridge Hollow. Michael Peña plays Mr. Roarke; the cast also includes Maggie Q, Lucy Hale, Michael Rooker, Austin Stowell and Jimmy O. Yang. Jason Blum and Marc Toberoff produced alongside Wadlow, with Columbia Pictures and Blumhouse Productions behind the release.

Made for a modest budget, the film took in roughly seven times its production cost worldwide, a strong return for a release of this scale. Audiences were lukewarm toward it: it holds a rating of 4.9 on IMDb from around 64,000 votes, and 5.7 on TMDB from a much smaller pool of users. Critics were harsher, giving it an average of 3.5 from 114 reviews. The runtime is 109 minutes.
