High Strung Free Dance

High Strung Free Dance follows a young choreographer, Zander Raines, who casts two newcomers in a major new Broadway production called Free Dance. Barlow is a contemporary dancer chasing her big break, and Charlie is a pianist with his own ideas about the music. Bringing them into the show upsets its creative balance: Charlie becomes drawn to Barlow, while Zander starts treating her as his muse, leaving her to weigh her feelings against the demands of the production.

The film is directed by Michael Damian, who wrote the screenplay with Janeen Damian; both also produced it. It is the seventh feature Damian directed, arriving after High Strung in 2016, and it shares that film's world of dancers working toward a stage career. Thomas Doherty plays Zander, Juliet Doherty plays Barlow, and Harry Jarvis plays Charlie, with Jane Seymour, Ace Bhatti and Kika Markham in supporting roles.

Released in 2018 and running 103 minutes, the film blends drama, music and romance and was shot in Romania and the United States. It has found a steady audience: on IMDb it holds 6.8/10 from around 2,500 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.3/10 from roughly 243 votes, a smaller but warmer response.
