A sadistic serial killer targets victims by forcing them to make impossible choices between different losses. Fiona Wagner, a student of journalism, attempts to track down the murderer with the assistance of a therapist and her father, who is the detective leading the investigation. As Fiona digs deeper into the case, the killer begins contacting her directly by sending photographs of his crimes.
