Who You Think I Am

Claire Millaud is a divorced literature professor in her fifties, raising two sons and involved with a younger man named Ludo. When the relationship falters, she creates a fake Facebook profile posing as Clara, a woman of twenty-four, and uses it to keep watch on him. Her messages instead reach Alex, Ludo's roommate, a young photographer who responds and gradually falls for the invented Clara. What begins as observation turns into an ongoing exchange of confessions, and Claire finds her own feelings caught up in a connection she cannot sustain, since Alex eventually wants to meet the woman he believes he is talking to.

Safy Nebbou directed and co-wrote the film with Julie Peyr, working from Camille Laurens's novel. Juliette Binoche leads as Claire, with Nicole Garcia as her psychoanalyst, François Civil as Alex, Guillaume Gouix as Ludo and Charles Berling as Gilles. It is the second feature in the directing filmography listed here, following Enfances and preceding Parents in Perpetuity and Nobody's Son.

The film drew a critics' rating of 7/10 from 73 reviews, slightly above its audience scores on IMDb, where it holds 6.8/10 from around 8,400 votes, and on TMDB, where it stands at 6.5/10 from 353 votes.
