Short description

After inspector Dev stirs the reign of Veeraiya, a tribal outlaw, the latter responds by kidnapping his wife, Ragini. While she tries to escape from him, Dev fights many resistances to find her.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Abhishek Bachchan, who played the role of Veera in the 2010 film 'Villain,' was supposed to play Ragini's husband in this movie, but chose to decline because he does not speak Tamil well.
  • The film's plot is taken from the ancient Indian epic 'Ramayana', in which the demon Ravana abducts Sita, the wife of Rama. Some plot elements were inspired by the life of the Indian revolutionary Kobad Ghandi.
  • The film was shot simultaneously in two versions—this one in Tamil ('Demon') and another in Hindi ('Villain'). Every scene had to be filmed twice with different actors, which is why production took over 100 days.
