The Princess Switch

A Chicago baker named Stacy De Novo travels to a European kingdom for a Christmas baking competition, where she meets Margaret Delacourt, a duchess preparing to marry a prince. The two women discover they are identical in appearance, and they agree to trade places for a short time before the holiday. As each lives the other's life, the arrangement leads them toward unexpected romantic entanglements.

Mike Rohl directed the film, working from a screenplay by Robin Jill Bernheim and Megan Metzger. It followed his 2016 adaptation of V.C. Andrews' My Sweet Audrina and preceded Royal Matchmaker in the same year, later continuing in the Princess Switch series with sequels in 2020 and 2021. Vanessa Hudgens plays both Stacy and Margaret, with Sam Palladio as Prince Edward Wyndham, Nick Sagar as Stacy's friend and business partner Kevin Richards, Alexa Adeosun as Kevin's daughter Olivia, Suanne Braun as Donatelli and Mark Fleischmann as Frank. The production was handled by Motion Picture Corporation of America and Brad Krevoy Television, with Christopher Landry, Amy Krell and Linda L. Miller producing.

The film runs 101 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.1 from roughly 34,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7 out of 10 from about 2,295 votes. A critics' rating of 5.4 from 16 reviews places it below both audience scores, which suggests viewers responded to it more warmly than reviewers did.
