Take Point

Take Point is a South Korean action thriller set on the day of the 2024 United States presidential election. A team of elite mercenaries is sent into an underground bunker beneath the Korean Demilitarized Zone on a secret CIA operation aimed at abducting a senior North Korean figure. The mission goes wrong, the team comes under fire, and the situation threatens to escalate into a much wider conflict. Much of the story follows Captain Ahab, the group's leader, who finds himself betrayed by men from his own team and must work alongside a North Korean doctor to survive the bunker and prevent a catastrophic war.

The film was directed by Kim Byung-woo, who also wrote the screenplay. It is the second of the four features he has directed, following The Terror Live (2013) and preceding Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy and The Great Flood, both from 2025. Ha Jung-woo plays Ahab and also served as a producer; the cast includes Lee Sun-kyun, Jennifer Ehle, Kevin Durand, Kang Shin-chul and Spencer Daniels. The production involved 29 credited cast members and 54 credited crew.

Released in December 2018, Take Point runs 124 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.4 from around 1,600 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.9 from roughly 130 votes, a notably warmer response from that smaller audience. A critics' rating of 2 out of 10 from five reviews indicates a largely negative critical reception that the audience scores do not share.
