Radiofreccia

Set in a small town in Emilia, Radiofreccia follows a group of young friends who launch an independent radio station. The story unfolds in retrospect from April 1993, when the station is about to shut down after nearly two decades on the air. Bruno, one of the founders, looks back on the years they shared on and off the air, and on the life of Ivan, known as Freccia, the most restless member of the group. Music, friendships, hopes and hard times run through their youth in the 1970s and 1980s.

The film is directed by Luciano Ligabue, who also wrote the screenplay with Antonio Leotti, and produced by Domenico Procacci for Medusa Film and Fandango. Stefano Accorsi plays Freccia, with Luciano Federico as Bruno, Alessio Modica, Enrico Salimbeni and Roberto Zibetti as the other friends, and singer-songwriter Francesco Guccini in the cast. Released in October 1998, it runs 112 minutes and mixes drama with the rock music that shapes its characters' world. On TMDB it holds a 7.1 rating from 360 votes, a solid result for an Italian music drama of its period. Ligabue was already known as a musician, and this marked one of his first ventures into filmmaking, made in the late 1990s.
