Peninsula

Four years after a zombie outbreak overran South Korea, the peninsula lies under quarantine and swarms with the infected. Han Jung-seok, a former soldier who escaped the country, is living a marginal existence in Hong Kong when he is offered a job that pays well and requires him to go back in secret. He and a small team are sent to retrieve a truck from inside the sealed zone and get out again. The mission goes wrong when they are attacked, and the group finds that survivors have organised in the ruined city, making the living as much of a threat as the dead.

Yeon Sang-ho directed and co-wrote the film with Ryu Yong-jae, following his earlier features Train to Busan, Seoul Station and Psychokinesis; several later titles followed it. Gang Dong-won plays Jung-seok, with Lee Jung-hyun as Min-jung, Lee Re as Joon-yi, Kwon Hae-hyo, Kim Min-jae and Koo Kyo-hwan among a credited cast of 64 and crew of 67. Kim Yeon-ho produced.

Made for about 17 million US dollars, the film took roughly 43 million worldwide. Its ratings divide sharply: 5.5 out of 10 on IMDb from over 43,000 votes, against 6.7 out of 10 on TMDB from a much smaller electorate of about 2,700, while a critics' rating of 5.8 out of 10 from 132 reviews sits between the two.
