Upside Down

Upside Down is a romantic science-fiction film set in a universe where two worlds hang directly above one another, each with its own gravity. Adam, a young man living in the poor and damaged lower world, has never forgotten Eden, a girl from the wealthy upper world whom he met as a child. Contact between the two planets is tightly controlled, and anything crossing from one side to the other soon begins to burn, yet Adam sets out to reach her again after catching sight of her years later.

Juan Diego Solanas directed and wrote the film, which was released in 2012 and runs 104 minutes. Kirsten Dunst plays Eden and Jim Sturgess plays Adam, with Timothy Spall, James Kidnie, Holly Uloth and Blu Mankuma among the credited cast. It was produced in Canada and France by Warner Bros. Pictures, Canal+, Ciné+ and France 2 Cinéma on a budget of 60 million dollars, and took about 22 million dollars worldwide. Audience scores sit at 6.3 out of 10 on IMDb from more than 73,000 votes and 6.3 out of 10 on TMDB, while a critics' rating stands at 4.9 out of 10 from 52 reviews.
