Embattled

Cash is a mixed martial arts champion whose aggression, forged by a brutal upbringing, carried him to world titles. When his second son is born with Williams syndrome, Cash leaves rather than face the situation, and his eldest son Jett takes on much of the care for his younger brother while their mother holds the household together. Jett grows into a gifted high-school athlete and eventually steps into the cage himself, following the path his father took. The two end up matched against each other, a fight that neither can really win.

Nick Sarkisov directed the film from a screenplay by David McKenna, with Scott LaStaiti, Sergey Sarkisov and Eryl Cochran producing for Blitz Films. Stephen Dorff plays Cash and Darren Mann plays Jett, heading a cast of 38 credited performers that also includes Elizabeth Reaser, Drew Starkey, Mimi Davila and Saïd Taghmaoui. The film runs 117 minutes.

Released in November 2020, Embattled drew a 6.5 rating on IMDb from roughly 4,000 votes and a 6.7 on TMDB from a much smaller base of 116 votes. A critics' rating of 6.7 from 23 reviews places professional assessments close to the audience scores on IMDb, suggesting the film landed similarly with both groups.
