Heroic Losers

In a small town in northwestern Buenos Aires province, a group of residents pool their savings to restart the local economy. When Argentina's 2001 financial crisis hits and a fraudulent banker and lawyer take off with their money, the neighbours are left with nothing. Rather than accept the loss, they band together to get their money back from the man who swindled them.

The film is directed by Sebastián Borensztein, who wrote the screenplay with Eduardo Sacheri. It is Borensztein's third feature, following Chinese Take-Away (2011) and Kóblic (2016). Ricardo Darín, who also produced, leads the cast as Fermín Perlassi, a former football star now running a service station. The cast includes Luis Brandoni, Chino Darín, Verónica Llinás, Daniel Aráoz and Carlos Belloso, with 101 crew members credited.

Released in August 2019, the film is an Argentine-Spanish co-production from TVE, INCAA, Telefe and K & S Films. It took about 7 million dollars at the worldwide box office. On IMDb it holds a 7.2 rating from 15,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.6 from 628 votes, indicating a generally favourable response from viewers across both platforms.
