Nathan Harper is a teenager living in a quiet suburb, uneasy about the life he leads with his family. When he comes across a photo of himself as a child on a website for missing persons, his suspicions take on a concrete shape, and he begins to question who his parents really are. Before he can make sense of it, he is targeted by killers and goes on the run with Karen, a neighbour he trusts, while trying to work out his true identity and why so many people want him dead.
The film was directed by John Singleton, the ninth feature in the chronological list of his work as a director, following Four Brothers in 2005. Shawn Christensen wrote the screenplay, and the cast includes Taylor Lautner as Nathan, Lily Collins as Karen, Sigourney Weaver, Alfred Molina, Jason Isaacs and Maria Bello. Thirty-seven cast members and 209 crew are credited.
Released in September 2011, Abduction runs 106 minutes and was made for a budget of 35 million dollars, earning 82 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.1 from around 86,000 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 5.8 from just over 3,000 votes; the film critics' rating stands at 3.3 from 107 reviews, well below both audience scores.
