Like Crazy

Like Crazy centres on Anna, a British student who moves to Los Angeles for college and falls for Jacob, a fellow student from the United States. Their romance takes shape over a summer in the city, but when Anna stays on past the end of her student visa, she is barred from returning to the country. The couple is left living on opposite sides of the Atlantic, trying to hold a relationship together across an ocean and through the separate lives each of them builds in the years that follow.

Drake Doremus directed from a screenplay he wrote with Ben York Jones, and Andrea Sperling and Jonathan Schwartz produced. Anton Yelchin plays Jacob and Felicity Jones plays Anna, with Jennifer Lawrence, Charlie Bewley, Alex Kingston and Oliver Muirhead among the supporting cast. The film runs 90 minutes and was the first feature Doremus directed in the run that later included Breathe In, Equals, Newness, Zoe, Endings, Beginnings and Next Life.

It took about 4 million dollars worldwide, a modest return for a release handled by Paramount Vantage and Indian Paintbrush. On IMDb and TMDB the audience scores sit close to each other around the mid-six range on both, and a critics' rating of 6.6 from 154 reviews places professional opinion only slightly above the viewer response, suggesting a film that drew measured approval rather than strong enthusiasm from either side.
