Sennentuntschi: Curse of the Alps

Set in a remote Swiss mountain village in 1975, the story begins when a beautiful, mute woman arrives unexpectedly. While the local community views her with suspicion and associates her with demons and witchcraft, a policeman named Reusch protects her and attempts to uncover her identity. Evidence suggests she originated from the Höhenalp, a place where herdsmen commit terrible acts to secure female company. As dark secrets about lust and hypocrisy surface, the village descends into a nightmare of religious madness and violence that destroys a young family and the community.

The film was directed by Michael Steiner and marks the first of two feature films he has directed, followed by Early Birds in 2023. The screenplay was written by Steiner alongside Michael Sauter and Stephanie Japp. The cast features Roxane Mesquida in the lead role, supported by Nicholas Ofczarek, Andrea Zogg, Carlos Leal, Joel Basman, and Rebecca Indermaur.
