The Ledge is a 2011 drama-thriller about a standoff on a high-rise rooftop. Police officer Hollis Lucetti, who is having a difficult day of his own, is called to talk down Gavin Nichols, a young man determined to jump before midday. As the two men talk, Gavin's story emerges: he is an atheist involved with Shana, the wife of his neighbor Joe, a fundamentalist Christian. What begins as a clash of beliefs between the two men turns into a dangerous contest of wills with consequences for everyone involved.
Matthew Chapman wrote and directed the film, which was produced by Mark Damon, Moshe Diamant and Michael Mailer. Charlie Hunnam plays Gavin, Liv Tyler plays Shana, Terrence Howard plays Hollis, and Patrick Wilson plays Joe. The cast also includes Jaqueline Fleming and Mike Pniewski.
Made on a budget of about 10 million dollars, the film took roughly 1 million dollars worldwide, a small return on its production cost. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.5 from around 21,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.2 from about 400 votes. A film critics' rating of 4.2 from 29 reviews places it clearly below the audience scores.
