Shithouse

Alex Malmquist is a college freshman who has not settled into campus life and keeps his distance from classmates who seem to have it all worked out. One night he pushes himself to attend a party at Shithouse, a fraternity known for its parties, and there he meets Maggie, a student whose confidence contrasts with his own unease. The two spend the night talking and form a connection, though the relationship afterward proves less simple than that first meeting suggests.

Cooper Raiff directed the film and wrote the screenplay, and he also produced it with Divi Crockett and Will Youmans. Raiff plays Alex, with Dylan Gelula as Maggie and supporting turns from Amy Landecker, Logan Miller, Olivia Scott Welch and Abby Quinn. The production, from CMR Productions, is the first film Raiff directed; his second, Cha Cha Real Smooth, followed in 2022.

Shithouse runs 102 minutes and mixes comedy, drama and romance. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.9 from around 7,700 votes, and on TMDB it also stands at 6.9, from roughly 200 votes. A critics' rating of 7.4 from 73 reviews places reviewers somewhat above the general audience scores.
