The Last Letter from Your Lover

The Last Letter from Your Lover moves between two periods. In the present day, journalist Ellie Haworth comes across a forgotten love letter while working in her newspaper's archives, and her search for the rest of the correspondence draws her into a secret affair from the 1960s. That earlier story centres on Jennifer Stirling, the wife of a wealthy man, and Anthony O'Hare, the financial journalist sent to write about her husband. One source notes that Jennifer loses her memory of the crash and of her marriage, and that the letters she finds are signed only with a letter. The film is based on the novel by Jojo Moyes.

Augustine Frizzell directed, with a screenplay by Esta Spalding and Nick Payne, and Shailene Woodley and Felicity Jones lead the cast as Jennifer and Ellie. Callum Turner, Joe Alwyn, Nabhaan Rizwan and Ncuti Gatwa also appear among 36 credited cast members.

The film was released in July 2021 and took about 1 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.7 from roughly 25,000 votes, while on TMDB it rates 7.3 from a much smaller group of users. A critics' rating of 5.6 from 71 reviews sits below the audience scores, suggesting reviewers were less persuaded than viewers.
