Short description
Grudge Match is a comedy about two Pittsburgh boxers, Henry "Razor" Sharp and Billy "The Kid" McDonnen, whose rivalry once drew national attention. Each had beaten the other once, and in 1983 they were set for a deciding third fight until Razor abruptly retired without explaining why, cutting short both careers. Thirty years later the two men meet again, and a scuffle between them becomes an online sensation. Seeing money in the footage, promoter Dante Slate Jr. makes the retired fighters an offer they accept: climb back into the ring and settle things once and for all.
Peter Segal directed the film, which he also produced with Mark Steven Johnson and Bill Gerber, from a screenplay by Rodney Rothman and Tim Kelleher. It followed Segal's Get Smart (2008) and was the ninth of the films he has directed. Robert De Niro plays Billy and Sylvester Stallone plays Henry, with Alan Arkin, Jon Bernthal, Kevin Hart and Ireland Baldwin in supporting roles.
Released on December 25, 2013, the film runs 113 minutes. Made for about 40 million USD, it took in roughly 45 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.4/10 from around 65,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.1/10 from about 1,400 votes. A film critics' rating of 4.6/10 from 141 reviews places it well below the audience scores.

- The role of Sally (Kim Basinger) in her youth was played by the actress's daughter – Ireland Baldwin.
- Dante leans on the folded convertible top of his Porsche while talking on the phone. In the following shots, when he gets out of the car, the top is already up.
- When Razor and Sally are talking in front of his house (across the street from the railroad tracks), the background changes constantly after each cut – sometimes there’s a train, sometimes it’s moving, and sometimes it’s not there at all.
- Many mistakenly believe that this project was the brainchild of Sylvester Stallone. However, according to Robert De Niro, he was the first to read the script, and he was the first to realize that Stallone would be best suited for the role of his rival. Stallone himself was initially reluctant to participate, as he did not want to star in what he called a parody of the sports drama "Rocky" (1976), but De Niro persuaded him. Stallone later said that he prepared for the role more diligently than usual, as he had recently decided to move away from action films and had lost some of his form.
- After the end credits, a poster can be seen on the wall that reads “Seagal vs. Ewing.” This is a reference to director Peter Segal and producer Michael Ewing. The same poster also reads “Osbrink vs. King” – a reference to Hollywood agent Cindy Osbrink and boxing promoter Don King.
- Filming took place in Pittsburgh and New Orleans from January 7 to March 11, 2013.
