Airplane Mode

Ana is a social media influencer whose life revolves around her phone and her online brand. After she crashes her car while on a call, her parents send her to stay with her grumpy grandfather on his remote farm, where she is made to give up her devices and adjust to a very different daily life.

Airplane Mode is a Brazilian comedy-drama with romantic elements, released in 2020 and running 96 minutes. It was directed by César Rodrigues, working from a screenplay by Renato Fagundes and Alice Name-Bomtempo, with Luiz Noronha producing. It followed Rodrigues's My Mom Is a Character 2 from 2016 and came before Não Tem Volta and Tô de Graça: O Filme. Larissa Manoela plays Ana, with Erasmo Carlos as Germano and André Luiz Frambach as João; Katiuscia Canoro, Dani Ornellas and Sílvia Lourenço also appear.

The film's reception has been modest but not negligible. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.2 from roughly 3,200 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.2 from about 722 votes, so the smaller audience there was noticeably warmer toward it than the larger one on IMDb. Both sets of numbers point to a film with a limited but real viewership rather than a broad breakout.
