Dance of the Forty One

Set in Mexico City during the late 19th century, this historical drama follows Ignacio de la Torre, a politician who marries the daughter of President Porfirio Díaz to advance his career. While maintaining a public image of success, Ignacio leads a double life as a member of a clandestine society for gay men. Within this secret circle, he begins a romantic relationship with Evaristo Rivas. The conflict reaches a peak in November 1901 when police raid a private party attended by the group, leading to a public scandal involving the president's son-in-law.

The film was directed by David Pablos, following his work on The Song of the Dead Children and The Chosen Ones, and preceding On the Road. The cast features Alfonso Herrera, Emiliano Zurita, Fernando Becerril, and Mabel Cadena. This co-production between Brazil and Mexico was written by Monika Revilla and produced by Pablo Cruz, Marta Núñez Puerto, and Arturo Sampson.
