Short description
Publisher Will Atenton quits a lucrative job in New York to relocate his wife, Libby, and their daughters to a quaint town in New England. However, as they settle into their home the Atentons discover that a woman and her children were murdered there, and the surviving husband is the town's prime suspect. With help from a neighbor who was close to the murdered family, Will pieces together a horrifying chain of events.

- Daniel Craig is indeed married to Rachel Weisz.
- Director Jim Sheridan constantly argued with James J. Robinson, head of Morgan Creek Productions, on set regarding the script and filming. After Sheridan reshot some scenes because they were disliked by audiences during test screenings, the film company took the film away from him and completely re-edited all the material. The result was a trailer that revealed too many plot secrets and nuances. Ultimately, Sheridan and the lead actors, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz, refused to participate in the film's promotional campaign.
- After Morgan Creek Productions re-edited the film as they saw fit, Jim Sheridan officially appealed to the Directors Guild of America to have his name removed from the credits.
