The Deal

Set in a world devastated by an unprecedented pandemic, the story follows a society where resources are so scarce that survival requires a deadly trade. A totalitarian organization known as the Bureau offers citizens a deal: in exchange for employment, housing, and healthcare for twenty years, they must agree to die at the end of that term. Tala Bayani accepted this arrangement two decades earlier while pregnant and alone, spending her remaining years ensuring her daughter, Analyn, would not have to make the same choice. However, five days before Tala is scheduled to die, a sudden medical diagnosis for Analyn forces her mother to fight against the Bureau to save her daughter.

The film was directed by Orsi Nagypál, who previously directed Paktum in 2010 and Roundabout in 2012. The cast features Sumalee Montano as Tala Bayani and Emma Fischer as Analyn Bayani, alongside Alastair Mackenzie, Pearl Mackie, Taz Skylar, and Lisa Brenner. Produced by Electric Entertainment, Balkanic Media, and LinLay Productions, this American science fiction thriller has a runtime of 92 minutes. Audience reception is mixed, with a rating of 4.6/10 on IMDb based on 551 votes and a slightly higher score of 5.8/10 on TMDB from 30 votes.
