Malcolm & Marie follows a filmmaker and his girlfriend as they come home from the premiere of his latest movie. What begins as a quiet return turns into a long night of arguments and confessions, as long-suppressed frustrations and painful truths surface and the two are forced to confront the state of their relationship. The film takes place almost entirely in and around one house, with the two leads carrying the story.

Sam Levinson wrote and directed the film, which sits between Assassination Nation and Euphoria: A Look Back in his directing career. It was produced by Kevin Turen, Levinson and Zendaya. John David Washington plays Malcolm and Zendaya plays Marie. The production had a budget of 3 million USD and was made by Little Lamb Productions and FotoKem, with 64 crew members credited.
