This family comedy serves as a prequel to Marley & Me, focusing on the early life of the Labrador Retriever. While his owners are away, Marley is left in the care of a young boy named Bodi Grogan and his grandfather. Bodi hopes to prove he is responsible enough to own a pet by training Marley and two other local puppies for a neighborhood agility competition. Throughout the event, the mischievous puppy causes chaos and outsmarts the other competitors to win over the crowd.
The film was directed by Michael Damian, who also co-wrote the screenplay. This project was one of two films he released in 2011, appearing after Flicka 2 and before Flicka: Country Pride. The cast includes Travis Turner as Bodi Grogan and Donnelly Rhodes as Grogan. Produced by Regency Enterprises and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, the movie was a joint production between Canada and the United States.
Audience reception was mixed and varied between platforms. On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 3.5/10 based on 2,300 votes, while on TMDB it has a higher score of 5.7/10 from 156 votes.
