Richie Rich's Christmas Wish

Richie Rich's Christmas Wish is a family comedy in which the world's wealthiest boy faces a holiday disaster of his own making. After being blamed for ruining Christmas, Richie wishes he had never been born, and a wishing machine built by the eccentric Professor Keenbean turns that wish into reality. He lands in a world where no one knows him except his dog, and his rival Reggie Van Dough has taken his place. To set things right, Richie must track down the professor and the machine.

The film is the first feature directed by John Murlowski, who went on to make Black Cadillac and a long run of later thrillers. David Gallagher plays Richie, with Eugene Levy as Professor Keenbean, Keene Curtis as Cadbury, Jake Richardson as Reggie Van Dough, and Martin Mull and Lesley Ann Warren as Richie's parents. Rob Kerchner, Jason Feffer and Mark Furey wrote the screenplay, Mike Elliott produced, and Saban Entertainment and The Harvey Entertainment Company backed the production at a budget of 6 million dollars.

Audience response has been modest. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.1 out of 10 from around 2,800 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 4.8 out of 10 from roughly 114 votes, leaving the two audience samples close in their assessment of the film.
