Killing Romance

Hwang Yeo-re is a former screen star whose career has faded and who now lives under the control of her wealthy husband, Jonathan Na, on a remote Pacific island. When the couple travels to Seoul, she discovers that Kim Beom-woo, her most devoted fan, lives nearby. Seeing a way out of a marriage that has left her isolated and unable to work, she draws him into a plan to free herself. Their scheme is amateurish, and it does not go smoothly.

Killing Romance is a 2023 Korean comedy thriller directed by Lee Won-suk from a screenplay by Park Jeong-ye, and it is the second of the three films he has directed, following The Royal Tailor and preceding Lovely Death. Honey Lee plays Yeo-re, with Lee Sun-kyun as Jonathan Na, Gong Myeong as Beom-woo, and supporting turns from Bae Yoo-ram, Andrew Bishop and Shim Dal-gi among a credited cast of 31. It runs 107 minutes.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 5.9 from 502 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.4 from 21 votes. A critics' rating of 7.3 from 10 reviews places it noticeably above the audience scores on both platforms, suggesting that reviewers responded to the film more warmly than general viewers did.
