The Monitor

Anna and her eight-year-old son, Anders, move into a large apartment building in Oslo to escape a violent former husband. Struggling with trauma and a constant fear for her son's safety, Anna buys a baby monitor to watch Anders while he sleeps. However, the device begins picking up interference from another apartment, including sounds that suggest a child is in danger. As Anna tries to find the source of these noises, she faces growing psychological instability and uncertainty about whether the threats are real.

The film was written and directed by Pål Sletaune, following his previous work on Junk Mail and Next Door. The cast is led by Noomi Rapace, with Vetle Qvenild Werring playing her son and Kristoffer Joner appearing as Helge. Produced by companies including Pandora Film and SF Norge, the production had a budget of 25 million USD but earned 1 million USD at the worldwide box office.

Audience reception is mixed, with a rating of 5.7/10 on IMDb from 6,200 votes and 5.8/10 on TMDB from 160 votes. Film critics gave the movie a slightly higher rating of 5.9/10 based on 24 reviews.
