Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Blood Prison

Naruto Uzumaki is accused of crimes he did not commit: an attempt on the life of the Raikage, leader of Kumogakure, and the killings of shinobi from Kirigakure and Iwagakure. He is taken to Hozukijou, a prison known as Blood Prison, run by a master named Mui who uses a special technique to drain the chakra of those held there. Stripped of his abilities and targeted by unknown forces, Naruto sets out to clear his name and uncover what is really going on inside the facility, with Sakura, Kakashi and Yamato also involved in the events surrounding his imprisonment.

The film is the fifth Naruto Shippuden theatrical feature and the fourth directed by Masahiko Murata, following Mission: Protect the Waterfall Village!, The Will of Fire and The Lost Tower. Akira Higashiyama wrote the screenplay, and the voice cast is led by Junko Takeuchi as Naruto, alongside Mie Sonozaki, Masaki Terasoma, Chie Nakamura, Rikiya Koyama and Kazuhiko Inoue. It was released in Japan in July 2011 and took in about 9 million dollars worldwide.

Audience responses are moderately positive and closely aligned: it holds a 7.1 rating on IMDb from roughly 6,700 votes and a 7.2 on TMDB from just over 700 votes, suggesting a film appreciated by the series' followers rather than one that reached a broad general audience.
