Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo

Fourteen years have passed since the Near Third Impact, and Shinji Ikari wakes from that long sleep without having aged a day. The world he knew is gone. NERV has been dismantled, the Earth lies in ruins, and the people he once fought to protect now treat him as an enemy. Taken in by WILLE, an organization formed by former NERV members, Shinji struggles to adjust to a changed landscape and to the knowledge that his own actions helped bring it about. When he meets the enigmatic Kaworu Nagisa, the two search for Rei Ayanami and edge toward difficult truths about the Angels, NERV and the Evangelion units themselves, while former allies pursue purposes of their own.

The film is the third entry in the Rebuild of Evangelion series, released in 2012 and running 96 minutes. It is directed by Hideaki Anno, who also wrote the screenplay, with Mahiro Maeda, Kazuya Tsurumaki, Masayuki and Kiyotaka Suzuki sharing directing duties. The voice cast includes Megumi Ogata as Shinji, Yuko Miyamura as Asuka, Akira Ishida as Kaworu, Megumi Hayashibara as Rei, Maaya Sakamoto as Mari and Kotono Mitsuishi as Misato. Made by the studio khara on a budget of about 13 million dollars, it earned roughly 60 million worldwide, a strong return for an animated feature. On IMDb it holds 6.9 from around 22,000 votes, and on TMDB 7.2 from under a thousand. A critics' rating of 5 out of 10 from five reviews sits below the audience scores, suggesting viewers responded more warmly than reviewers did.
