My Week with Marilyn

In 1956, Marilyn Monroe travels to England to star opposite Laurence Olivier in the film released as The Prince and the Showgirl, which Olivier is also directing. Colin Clark, a young Oxford graduate hoping to break into the movie business, lands a low-level job on the production. What begins as a professional encounter between a Hollywood star and a celebrated British actor becomes something more personal for Clark. The story draws on Clark's own published accounts of the shoot.

Simon Curtis directed this 2011 drama, his first feature film, followed later by Woman in Gold, Goodbye Christopher Robin, The Art of Racing in the Rain and two Downton Abbey films. Adrian Hodges wrote the screenplay, and the cast includes Michelle Williams as Monroe, Kenneth Branagh as Olivier, Eddie Redmayne as Clark, with Dominic Cooper, Philip Jackson and Derek Jacobi.
