Lifted

Lifted follows Henry Matthews, a middle-schooler in the American South who is dealing with a great deal at once. He faces bullies at school and difficulties at home, and learns that his father, a reservist, is being sent back to Afghanistan. A local singing competition gives him a chance to step forward and a measure of hope amid these pressures.

The 2010 drama was directed by Lexi Alexander, who also wrote the screenplay, with Deborah Del Prete producing. It stands third in Alexander's filmography, arriving after Green Street Hooligans in 2005 and Punisher: War Zone in 2008, and before Absolute Dominion in 2025. Uriah Shelton plays Henry, with Nicki Aycox and Dash Mihok as his parents, Lisa and William. Thad Mickler, Ruben Studdard and Barbara Kincaid-Hill appear as Jeb, Pastor Johnson and Mrs. Declaire.

The film runs 108 minutes and was released in August 2010. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.6 from around 1,800 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.1 from 36 votes, a high average resting on a very small number of responses. The two audiences therefore differ somewhat: the broader IMDb sample is more measured, whereas the much smaller TMDB group rates it more warmly.
