Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters

Percy Jackson, the teenage son of Poseidon, returns to Camp Half-Blood to find its magical borders failing. The pine tree that shields the camp has been poisoned, leaving the young demigods open to attack, and the only cure is the Golden Fleece. Percy sets out with his friends Annabeth and Grover, and his half-brother Tyson, a cyclops, on a voyage across the Sea of Monsters, the waters known to humans as the Bermuda Triangle. Their journey pits them against mythical creatures and brings them to an island guarded by the cyclops Polyphemus, where the Fleece is kept.

The film is a fantasy adventure directed by Thor Freudenthal, whose earlier credits include Hotel for Dogs and Diary of a Wimpy Kid; it followed in 2013 and preceded Words on Bathroom Walls in 2020. Marc Guggenheim wrote the screenplay, and Karen Rosenfelt and Michael Barnathan produced. Logan Lerman leads the cast as Percy, with Brandon T. Jackson as Grover, Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth, Douglas Smith as Tyson, Leven Rambin as Clarisse La Rue and Jake Abel as Luke Castellan.

Made for about 90 million dollars, the film took roughly 200 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.9 out of 10 from 78 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6 out of 10 from 5,462 votes. A critics' rating of 5.2 out of 10 from 115 reviews places it below both audience scores.
